What happens when a DOT officer asks the driver for logs. NovaELD supports all four FMCSA-mandated transfer methods (49 CFR § 395.34(b)(1)).

Output File integrity

Every NovaELD Output File is sign-chain verified. Each event references the cryptographic hash of the previous event, and the final hash is signed with the carrier’s key. If a single byte changes anywhere in the record, the chain breaks and the inspector’s viewer flags the file as tampered. This is how we prove logs haven’t been edited after the fact.

If the ELD malfunctions: 49 CFR § 395.34 allows the driver up to 8 days of paper logs while the carrier dispatches a replacement. NovaELD’s driver app prints a formatted RODS template you can fill in with a pen — no hunting for a blank Graph Grid PDF.
